Any experienced builder will tell you a Dearborn all-steel body creates a tight and reliable custom that, unlike most of its competitors, retains ALL of its original lines, functional parts and structural integrity. And this '32 Ford drop top, which was massaged, tweaked and assembled at Autocrafters in Denver, North Carolina, looks absolutely fantastic under a rich coat of thick Burgundy paint. The car's stunning body displays smooth vertical panels and an arrow straight profile that would give any high dollar garage queen a serious run for its money. And everything from its shaved doors to its hidden convertible boot has been painstakingly engineered into one super solid, completely pre-assembled fuselage. Naturally a body this nice deserves to be seen and celebrated to the highest extent, so its Burgundy basecoat was sealed in a glossy clearcoat shell and buffed to a fantastic shine. And today, titled in North Carolina as an actual '32 Ford, this awesome drop top sits as an excellent combination of classic old school style and proven trophy winning prowess!
Everything on this slick Dearborn creation is exceptionally well-done, and the car has just the right amount of detail to turn heads and create a lasting impression. At the front of the car, body-matched frame horns hold a polished spreader below a precise stainless grille, a spotless stainless headlight bar and two modern halogen headlights. At the top of the car, a 4-piece hood runs to a chopped and tinted windshield which is bordered by a show quality frame, cleared by bright stainless wipers and capped by a cloth burgundy top. At the front of that slick engine a Billet Specialties Tru Trac serpentine system, which is complete with a full set of polished pulleys, spins a polished Powermaster alternator and a fresh Vintage Air AC compressor at the sides of a polished, "LS2" branded air cleaner that's equipped with a familiar re-usable filter element. Once air enters that filter, it flows through a polished F.A.S.T. throttle body into a body-matched LS2 intake which is bolted down over completely stock internals. High octane fossils are provided by a F.A.S.T. electronic fuel injection system. Sparks are sequenced through high performance Taylor plug wires. Spent gases are whisked away by a slick pair of ceramic coated hugger headers. And cooling comes courtesy of a polished aluminum radiator that's complete with a chrome cap and a quick-spinning electric puller fan. Aesthetically, the glossy engine compartment combines with the motor's mirror-like casting to provide a natural contrast which oozes performance appeal. Niceties such as body-matched fuel rail covers, a full set of braided hoses and an array of polished hardware add just the right amount of flash and detail to make people stop and take notice. And the net result is a buttery smooth, muscle-bound V8 that, through its distinctive rumble, foretells the car's true hot rod nature.
Under this Ford's well-planned and professionally executed powerplant you'll find a whole catalogue of custom performance parts which mix great aesthetics with excellent driving dynamics. A completely polished Kugel suspension, which is complete with both chrome coil over shocks and a manual rack and pinion steering system, produces thoroughly modern ride and handling characteristics. At the center of that first-rate suspension, a Dearborn chassis hangs a polished 4L60E 4-speed transmission in front of a polished, Jaguar-style rear end. At the corners of that first-rate suspension, polished Billet Specialties wheels roll 215/40ZR17 front Toyo Proxes 4s in front of 255/45ZR20 rear Toyo Proxes 4s. Quick acceleration is provided by a polished fuel tank that makes good use of braided fuel lines. Quicker stops are provided by big discs, polished calipers and a high quality Wilwood master cylinder. And a killer soundtrack is provided by a polished true dual exhaust system which routes spent gases through aggressive Flowmaster Hushpower mufflers to a custom, single-outlet exhaust tip. Exceptionally clean and completely detailed for show, the bottom of this roadster includes professionally finished floorpans that are sprayed to match its stunning exterior panels. And details such as fully polished driveshafts, completely polished fluid pans, a finned transmission cooler and a high quality mini starter add a whole lot of form to top-notch function.
Inside this awesome roadster 'simple' is the name of the game as a spectacular distressed leather interior, which was fabricated by Chuck Hannah of Mooresville, North Carolina, creates a fun and stylish contrast to the car's deep red exterior. The pleated leather seats are firm, supportive and provide a surprising amount of leg room. At the sides of those seats, sculpted panels hang stylish trim and large leather pulls next to custom covered kick panels that artfully frame large speakers and small courtesy lamps. Below those panels, like-new carpet props color-keyed and leather piped floor mats between a floor-mounted brake pedal, a chrome, firewall-mounted go pedal and chrome "Ford" branded door sills. On top of that carpet, a custom leather console anchors a custom-booted Lokar shifter in front of remote controls for the car's hidden Sony sound system. And in front of that console, a custom-painted dash hangs simple Classic Instruments gauges above a traditional Vintage Air control panel, billet AC vents and a stylish leather firewall cover. Behind the passengers, a fully-finished trunk weaves a hidden fuel filler and a large Kicker amplifier into a full complement of custom side panels and small courtesy lights. And in front of the driver, a polished steering wheel spins a half-wrapped rim around a polished tilt steering column and a full set of billet accessory stalks.
