The Chevrolet Bel Air is one of the most recognized and beloved classics of all time. Its clean lines, ornate trim and excellent proportions make for a handsome car with a TON of customizing potential. Somewhere between those perfected trailer queens and temperamental custom machines you'll find cars like this 995 point, Platinum certified Bel Air coupe. Decked in a smooth coat of spotless black paint, sporting an attractive two-tone interior and featuring a modern Chevrolet drivetrain, this super slick tri-five is an exceptionally restored award winner that is ready for endless nights of carefree cruising. If you're looking for a well-done weekend warrior that'll turn heads and drop jaws, you've found your next car!
Logging just 125 miles since a first class frame-off restoration, this picturesque '57 Chevy utilizes the highest quality replacement parts on the market to create a no excuses car with classic good looks. When the obligations of a "correct" restoration are removed, you'd be amazed what a seasoned fabricator can do to vintage sheet metal. And during this car's extensive rebuild, every piece of its body was honed and fine-tuned until it was as close to perfect as it could get. Once that canvas was fully prepped, a fantastic coat of jet black paint was professionally sealed in a thick clearcoat shell, the car's panels were re-assembled into arrow-straight surfaces, and everything was buffed to a glare inducing shine. The result is one striking Bel Air which features first-rate finish work, presents exceptionally well and has enough visual punch to make 'kids' from 8 to 65 point, stare and smile.
Tri-fives are renowned for their brilliant use of chrome and bright metal trim, and one look at this spectacular coupe tells you all you need to know about correctly detailing and accenting pretty much anything with four wheels. At the front of the car a heavy, body-width bumper houses a proper gold Bel Air grille behind a pristine Chevrolet crest and two clear parking lights. Above that Chevrolet crest, Bel Air exclusive gold hood ornamentation sits between good looking '57 Chevy exclusive 'spear bullets and spoons' and new hooded headlights. On the sides of the car classic 'tri-five' Chevy stainless, which runs from the front fenders to the rear fins, is branded by Bel Air exclusive gold emblems and displays no dulling or imperfections of any kind. At the bottom of the doors, dent free stainless rocker moldings perfectly reflect our RK Motors Charlotte showroom floor; and at the top of the doors, excellent looking stainless trim combines with correct chrome mirrors and new Raingear wipers to perfectly frame the cars entire smoked greenhouse. Behind that greenhouse, peaked stainless trim begins at the top of the fins and continues down to '57 Chevy exclusive chrome tail lights and a second body-width chrome bumper. On the trunk lid, another Bel Air exclusive gold "Chevrolet" script hangs above a matching gold "V"; and below the bumper, four pristine Borla exhaust tips mirror the angle of the cars awesome fins.
Centered in this hot Chevrolet's glossy black engine bay is a fully dressed, great sounding 350 cubic inch V8 which produces 330 horsepower. At the top of that smooth small block a polished, "Heartbeat" branded air cleaner funnels air into a Holley 4-barrel carburetor that's connected to Russell fuel lines, a Russell fuel filter and a chrome mechanical fuel pump. At the base of that free flowing Holley, a chrome Edelbrock intake props an MSD Blaster 2 coil in front of a billet points distributor which shoots sparks through a fresh set of billet loomed MSD Super Conductor plug wires. At the sides of that mirrored intake, chrome "Chevrolet" branded valve covers hang above ceramic coated Street and Performance shorty headers which send spent gases into a great sounding true dual exhaust system. At the front of the engine a modern serpentine system, which is complete with a full set of chrome pulleys and polished brackets, spins a chrome alternator, a chrome AC compressor and a small power steering pump behind a giant chrome pulley fan. And in front of that serpentine system, a polished fan shroud frames an equally large electric puller fan that's mated to a polished aluminum radiator which is complete with body-matched corrugated hoses, a smooth chrome cap and a familiar polished overflow tank. Naturally, the car's entire block is covered in a clean coat of bright Chevy Orange paint. Accessories like a polished heater block-off plate, a chrome brake booster and master cylinder, a full set of braided hoses and stainless lines and trick braided dipsticks add the kind of detail that warrants multiple looks. And this fully-sorted powerhouse fires right up, idles smoothly and runs as quick as any modern era Chevrolet V8
Underneath this sharp hardtop, a stunningly straight and smooth chassis is finished in flawless gloss black paint and, when viewed next to the car's plethora of clean suspension parts, looks so nice you'll swear it rolled out of the paint booth yesterday afternoon. Above that top notch chassis, solid red floor pans have exchanged their traditional oxide primer for a wet looking basecoat/clearcoat. And behind the engine, a new 700R4 4-speed spins torque through a fully rebuilt Posi-traction rear end that's packed full of stout 3.73 gears. Holding that road ready drivetrain in place is a fully rebuilt suspension which includes correct double A-arms up front, correct leaf springs out back and a fresh set of Monroe Sensa Trac shocks. Modern car turning characteristics are provided by a fresh power steering system. Short, confident stops come courtesy of power front disc and rear drum brakes. And at the center of the floor, a custom mandrel bent exhaust system sends spent gases through an H-pipe crossover, great sounding Flowmaster mufflers and spotless Borla tips. All the car's fuel lines, brake lines and stainless fasteners appear fresh and free of weathering. Cool finishing touches, which include a polished and finned oil pan, polished and finned transmission hardware, a fresh stainless fuel tank and a chrome mini-starter, provide the kind of trophy winning prowess that generates high point scoring sheets. And putting the power to the pavement is a sweet set of 17 inch Boyd Coddington Smoothie IIs wheels that are outfitted with new 245/45 front and 255/45 rear Kuhmo Ecsta radials.
Climb inside this '57 Bel Air and you'll find a great looking black and silver interior that's every bit as dramatic and cool as the exterior of the car. Covered in fresh silver vinyl, traditional black patterned inserts and bright silver piping, the car's bench seats are all-day comfortable and free of any wear marks wrinkles or annoying creases. Overhead there's a crisp black headliner, and below the seats like-new black carpet props heavy duty, color-keyed floor mats next to attractive stainless pedal covers. On the doors, two-tone black and silver panels look great behind a familiar array of stainless trim and chrome handles; and at the front of the car, a curvaceous black dash is detailed with traditional tri-five stainless, a fully functional AM radio and controls for a Vintage Air heat and air conditioning system. In front of the driver, a retrofitted Impala steering wheel spins around a chrome column shifter, a trio of Auto Meter mechanical gauges and a metallic silver instrument panel which features a familiar bowtie branded speedometer. And behind the cockpit, two great sounding Pioneer speakers hang over a fully restored trunk which features attractive black and silver accent panels, a hidden remote controlled 10 disc CD changer, and enough black carpet to double line the utility closet of your house.
Included with the sale of this award winning tri-five is a certificate from the 2006 Classic Chevy International stating that the car received 995 out of 1000 points, a certificate from the 2010 Eckler's Chevy Classic stating that the car received 994 out of 1000 points, and a picture of the car with all the major trophies it brought home for its previous owner.
From the local show to the local strip, this fully-sorted Bel Air will stun even the harshest critics. It's a highly desirable tri-five Chevy that's been tweaked with all of the right stuff to be a serious road machine and a stunning trophy winner. Whether you're taking it down the road for a drive or displaying it at a major event, you'll instantly draw a crowd and everyone will be talking about "that clean '57 Chevy".
