1965 Chevrolet Chevelle for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina

$24,995

With the earliest Malibus now almost 50 years old, its easy to forget just what great cars they were. Consider this lovely Mist Blue 1965 convertible a reminder. With a lively 283 cubic inch V8 under the hood, upgraded-and super rare-factory A/C, and recent paint work, its a wonderfully simple, reliable, and surprisingly fun convertible. You cant put fresh paint over lousy bodywork, because any flaws will simply rise to the surface, and now that its shiny, jump right out at you. So instead of making that glaring mistake, the guys who refinished this car made sure the body was nice and straight. Sight down the quarter panels and there are no waves or ripples, the gaps are good, and the relief line along the rocker panel remains sharply defined. Youll also note the high gloss on the finish, compliments of modern two-stage urethane. This one will look this good practically forever given only modest care. And no, this one hasnt been dressed up to be something its not, and still wears regular Malibu badges on its flanks. Nice. Two tone blue vinyl gives the interior an upscale look, and its in good condition. The seats have surely been re-covered, given their excellent condition, and there are no splits or tears. The carpet may very well be original and is starting to show its age, but thanks to a set of blue floor mats, its not an issue. Factory-issue gauges dont offer a lot of information on the goings-on under hood, but a trio of auxiliary gauges makes the view crystal clear. And yes, this is a factory A/C car, now upgraded to R134a refrigerant. A recent white vinyl top powers up and down with the touch of a button, and seals up tightly. The 283 under the hood makes all the right sounds and moves the lightweight Malibu effortlessly, making it a lot of fun to drive. Rebuilt a few years ago, it carries a set of high performance cylinder heads, an Edelbrock intake, and a matching 4-barrel carburetor, giving the small block a bit of an attitude. Bright chrome valve covers and a Chevrolet emblem air cleaner, along with a modern chrome alternator work with the Chevy Orange paint on the block to give it a near-stock look. And dig the big Frigidaire A6 compressor, which was original equipment and looks far more appropriate under the hood than a modern piece. The automatic transmission was rebuilt less than 5000 miles ago, and drives a set of 3.23 gears out back, making this a comfortable cruiser with long legs on the highway. This car probably didnt come with Rally wheels, but nothing looks better on vintage Chevrolet iron, and the upgraded 205/70/15 radials give it a comfortable ride. A V8 Chevelle convertible with a lot of recent work for less than $30,000? Id buy two at that price. Call today!
