1967 Ford Mustang for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina

$13,595

Take this lovely 1967 Mustang coupe for a ride and fall in love with Ford's pony car all over again. 45 years later, it's easy to forget that Ford sold millions of Mustangs, and while the big block Mach Is and Shelbys get all the press, it was cars like this coupe that formed the bulk of Mustang's sales. With a C-code 289 under the hood, the Arcadian Blue hardtop is just what you would have seen on the streets of Florida or California in the late 1960s. The paint and bodywork were restored in 2002 and still present well today, showing a nice patina that could almost pass for an exceptionally well-preserved original car. Displaying a great shine, the finish has a few signs of road use and age, but it only adds to the car's character and highly authentic feel. The brightwork is very nice, including the bumpers and individual taillight bezels, and the black vinyl top is expertly fitted with no sags or tears. If you bought a used Mustang in, say, 1970, this is pretty close to what you'd find. The standard code 2B blue bucket seat interior offers a lot of originality and patina to go with the car's overall presentation. Two-tone buckets up front and a matching bench in back give it a bright, almost tropical feel, reinforcing the belief that this car probably came from a warm climate. The carpet shows some signs of age, but that's an easy fix. All the gauges appear to be original and the lenses remain clear and the markings crisp. The factory AM radio lives in the dash with an FM add-on unit hanging underneath, a popular upgrade in the 1970s. Climb inside and you can almost hear the cool background music of a Steve McQueen movie emanating from this Mustang's vintage speakers. Power comes from a C-code 289 with a 2-barrel carburetor driving a C4 3-speed automatic and a set of 2.79 gears in the 9-inch out back. The engine was rebuilt in 2002 and has been driven only sparingly since then. It fires up easily and idles smoothly, giving this pony a luxury feel with smooth torque that makes it feel quick around town. Those are unquestionably the original floors underneath, and the condition of the chassis is further proof that this car has never been rusty or damaged. A single exhaust system uses an original-style transverse muffler to duplicate the 289's original sound, and the manual brakes work as they should. Attractive wire wheel covers and a recent set of 205/75/14 whitewall radials fit right in with this car's low-key demeanor. There are still plenty of nice Mustangs out there, and this coupe is proof. There are no stories or excuses with this one, it is what it is-they can't all breathe fire and wear Carroll Shelby's signature on their glove box lids. No, this is an honest, dependable, fun car that will always be in style. Call today!
