1968 Chevrolet Camaro for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina

$35,995

It doesnt take a genius to figure out why cars like this 1968 Camaro convertible remain popular year after year, and why we have trouble keeping them in stock. They combine timeless good looks with performance that is still impressive today, and when theres a top that goes down, well, the appeal is readily apparent. Unlike most Camaros of this vintage, this red ragtop wears all its original sheetmetal, including the quarters, which dont even have any patches! Starting with a solid southern stock base always helps, but the workmanship needs to be top-notch, too. Excellent fit and finish are hallmarks of this particular F-body, and you can see how well it lines up by sighting down the sides and checking that crease that runs between the fender wells. It looks like it was drawn with a T-square, doesnt it? The paint is two-stage urethane, recreating a brilliant Matador Red finish (although this car was originally code G, Ash Gold), and the black stripe around the nose has been buried in the clear for a seamless finish. Im personally a fan of the SS hidden headlamps, and the ducktail spoiler gives the car an aggressive attitude. All the brightwork seems to have been restored as well. This car is every bit as nice as it looks in photos. The black and white houndstooth fabric is perhaps the greatest styling element to come out of the late-60s, and in this convertible, it looks simply amazing. Stitched in the correct patterns and using reproduction material, it looks completely OEM, even though the houndstooth was never available in a convertible. Black door panels and carpets are the only choice, and its all recently installed. The original gauges are all functional, and have been augmented with a trio of auxiliary gauges ahead of the center console. Also note that this car has factory A/C, which blows ice cold. A horseshoe shifter controls the TH350 underneath, and the original radio has been supplanted by an AM/FM/cassette unit that fits perfectly in the original slot. Keeping everything dry is a brand new black vinyl convertible top. Although its not matching numbers, theres still a 350 under the hood, in this case a fresh crate motor rated at 300 horsepower. Installed less than 2000 miles ago, it has been dressed in cool satin black tin with bright red accents, perfectly mirroring the exterior and giving the engine a uniformly custom look. Power steering and power brakes make this car an easy driver, and the workmanship throughout is professionally done. Underneath, the chassis is extremely sanitary, with solid floors, straight subframes, and a uniform coating of satin black paint that hides nothing. Flowmasters, a new gas tank, and fresh shocks have all been recently installed, making this a Camaro you can enjoy immediately with no additional work. Chrome Rally wheels wear new 235/60/15 Uniroyal radials. This car is underpriced by at least $5000. Call today before anyone else notices!
