1969 Chevrolet Chevelle for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina

$33,995

This 1969 Chevelle SS is bound to attract a lot of potential suitors thanks to its awesome combination of handsome OEM good looks, a big block under the hood, and a modern 5-speed manual transmission that absolutely transforms the car out on the road. Correctly refinished in code 52 Garnet Red with a black tape stripe, this SS certainly looks the part of one of the eras most potent street cars. The body and paint were restored about five years ago, and its clear that someone took exceptional care of the car ever since. Sure, its been driven, because no man can resist the siren song of a big block and a manual transmission, but it has also been carefully washed and waxed, leaving a beautiful, smooth finish. There were no deviations from stock during the rebuild, which means the original flat hood remains instead of a ubiquitous cowl induction piece. In fact, this car is so nice that it already has a sizeable collection of trophies to its credit, and it isnt until you see it in person that you get a full appreciation for how nice it truly is. Inside its the same story. The black buckets were recovered when the car was repainted, and show very little wear. And yes, numbers fans, this is a code 756 interior, which means the buckets and console are original equipment. The gauges are beautifully restored, and includes the optional tachometer. The original console is excellent, and sharp-eyed viewers will note that the shifter knob now sports a 5-speed shift pattern, which is a subtle item that shows great attention to detail. Factory A/C, power steering, and power brakes make this Chevelle feel more like a luxury car, but cracking the throttle erases any thoughts of leisurely acceleration and mushy suspensions. The only non-stock components inside are the entertainment system, which includes an AM/FM/CD head unit and a set of Pioneer 6x9 speakers on the rear package shelf. The engine is a date-code-correct 1969 vintage 396 that has been nicely dressed in a proper coat of Chevy Orange. Chrome valve covers and a bright chrome air cleaner were standard issue on big block SS models in 1969, and the decals suggest that its a L34 350 horsepower model, which included an upgraded cam, bigger carburetor, and that open-element air cleaner. The hydraulic lifters also permitted A/C and power steering to be added as options, which were not available on the solid lifter 375 horsepower model. But the biggest upgrade is behind the engine where a Tremec 5-speed manual has taken the place of the original 4-speed, and the overdrive gear allows both brilliant acceleration and amazing high-speed cruising. While youre under there, also note the Flowmaster exhaust, new gas tank, and the beautiful 14-inch SS wheels and white-letter radials. This 69 Chevelle represents the rare opportunity to own a show car you can drive without worries, and the 5-speed transforms it into a modern-feeling supercar.
