1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina

$59,900

Sometimes it's the littlest things that make the biggest difference; and when you sell as many Chevelles as we do, it's always nice to see something a bit unique come through the showroom doors. That's why we're so excited about this fully restored SS396! It combines everything car guys love about the 1970 Chevelle with just enough exclusive details to set it apart from traditional LS5 and LS6 cars. For example, it has a hot, date-correct 396/4-speed powertrain which is just as spry as any 454/4-speed car, yet MUCH easier to live with. It wears a solid body and striking red interior under correct Tuxedo Black paint, instead of everyman's red or blue. And, at less than half the price of a documented LS6 car, you can enjoy all the perks of big block Chevelle ownership without having to take out a second mortgage. Yes indeed; different is good! And if you're looking for a fully sorted muscle car that's dressed to kill, and ready to eat the lunch of ANY brazen stoplight challenger or smug cruise in contestant, this Chevelle Super Sport is the car you've been waiting for!
Looking mean and sounding positively evil, this killer black and white hard top rolled off GM's Oshawa, Ontario assembly line during the second week of February, 1970 and began a life of bare-knuckle pavement domination. Recently, the car benefitted from a complete frame-off restoration during which every aspect of its body was massaged to better-than-new condition and aligned to better-than-factory standards. Once those sculpted panels were as close to perfect as possible, a slick coat of correct GM code 19 Tuxedo Black paint was sealed under glowing GM code 10 Classic White rally stripes and a thick clearcoat shell. And the result is one spectacular classic which draw stares, looks like a million bucks from every angle, and is exactly the kind of bad ass muscle car you never get tired of driving OR showing off!
Arguably the most popular year for the Chevelle line, 1970 models feature dual headlights, curvaceous quarters, and a tidy greenhouse that almost gives the car a fastback appearance. At the front of this sinister black pavement pounder you'll find a familiar Chevy crossbar grille which hangs a fresh and prominent "SS" emblem between four chrome-seated halogen headlights. Below that grille, a fresh chrome bumper is absent of any dimples and dings; and above that grille, a functional and correct cowl induction hood props bright stainless lanyards in front of great looking "COWL INDUCTION" lettering. Behind that hood, straight stainless trim, correct hide-a-way windshield wipers and pristine chrome drip rails border like-new greenhouse glass. At the base of that glass, white-inlayed "SS396" badges combine with bright stainless wheel well trim, traditional chrome door handles and a familiar driver's mirror to add nice visual details to the car's liquid smooth body. And at the back of that body, a second chrome bumper hangs a familiar black Super Sport inlay between clear brake lights, a fresh "Chevelle by Chevrolet" decklid emblem and subtle stainless exhaust tips.
Lift this car's correct ZL2 cowl induction hood and you'll find a 396 cubic inch L34 warranty replacement V8 which turns stout 10.25 to 1 compression into 350 horsepower and 415 lb./ft. of gravel hurling torque! Displaying an era-correct 3969854 casting number behind a correct "CE" suffix stamp, this legendary Chevrolet engine utilizes oval-port closed chamber heads, a forged steel crankshaft and modern hydraulic lifters to own almost any stoplight race it competes in. At the top of that big-bore mill, a correctly decaled air cleaner funnels wind into a reliable Quadrajet carburetor that's bolted between fresh fuel lines and a bright gold throttle spring. Below that throttle spring, a sea of brilliant Chevy Orange paint spreads from the car's traditional cast iron intake and correct chrome valve covers all the way to its stamped steel oil pan and restored cast iron exhaust manifolds. At the back of those manifolds, a correct points distributor shoots fire through eight Standard Triple Silicone plug wires; and at the front of those valve covers, a reproduction Delco Energizer battery complements a correct heavy duty radiator and correct plastic fan shroud. Aesthetically, this road ready Chevelle's fresh exterior paint transitions nicely into a satin black engine bay that features a very high level of detail. New GM hoses with appropriate tower clamps snake around quick spinning V-belts and a correct alternator. And all the familiar extraneous bits, like the car's Delco Moraine brake booster and various, factory accurate chalk marks, are present, sorted and fully accounted for.
The theme of 'road ready' also extends underneath this fully restored Super Sport where you'll find super clean floors and a rebuilt, factory-correct chassis. Behind the stout big block, a rugged Muncie M21 close ratio 4-speed sends power to a 12 bolt Posi-traction rear end that's equipped with correct, easy driving 3.31 gears. Holding that killer drivetrain off the ground is a correct option F41 double A-arm front and four link rear suspension that's equipped with factory power steering, heavy duty sway bars and stiffer springs. The car's rebuilt power front disc and rear drum brake system is present, accounted for and functions exceptionally well. The aforementioned cast iron exhaust manifolds dump spent gases into high performance, true dual pipes which employ great sounding Flowmaster mufflers and traditional rear-mounted resonators. And power flows to the pavement via correctly painted Super Sport wheels which spin 235/60R15 front and 255/60R15 rear BF Goodrich Radial T/As around correct stainless trimmings. The car's frame, free of any major damage, is painted black to match its solid satin floors. And in keeping with the 396 up top, much attention has been paid to making sure everything under this Chevelle is clean, mean and ready to go!
Pop this Chevelle's sculpted doors open and you'll find a flashy red interior which is, for the most part, exactly how the factory would've installed it. Rebuilt seats and reproduction door panels mix with a dark red headliner and fresh red carpet to provide big-time contrast to the car's Tuxedo Black exterior paint. Those door panels feature correct stainless trim and look as good as the day they came out of the box; and neither the front bucket nor rear bench seats show any signs of a rip, tear or stretching. Between those seats, a pristine red console props attractive chrome trim behind a fully chromed Hurst shifter. In front of those seats, a straight and original black dash hangs crystal clear gauges above a correct AM radio and fresh stainless trim. In front of the driver, a familiar Chevrolet Rally wheels spins satin-finished spokes around a red, white and blue horn button. And behind the cockpit, a fully restored trunk sandwiches a full-size spare tire between a new trunk mat and correct decklid decals.
The sale of this solid Chevelle Super Sport includes an attractive, moderately-sized display board.
