1965 Ford Mustang for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina

$24,995

If theres one car we can all agree is cool, its the early Ford Mustang, and when they look as good as this lovely ivy green 1965 convertible, its easy to see why theyre so popular. Equipped with a recently rebuilt driveline, a nicely finished body, and handsome interior, its the ultimate summertime cruiser that doesnt cost a lot of cash. Two additional cylinders would probably add $10,000 to the sticker price, but that would be missing the point of this convertible entirely. Simple, honest transportation with a lot of style was the Mustangs mission, and its a great thing that there are at least a few highly-desirable cars out there that havent been subjected to an engine upgrade. That lustrous Ivy Green paint was applied within the past year, giving the humble Mustang a very elegant look. So dark as to look almost black under some circumstances, it also means that you have to get the prep right just as you do with black. Panel gaps are good throughout, theres none of the notorious Mustang rot in the usual spots, and the finish has been brilliantly rendered in two-stage urethane, which shines better than enamel ever could. Detailing is very good, including a honeycomb grille behind the pony corral emblem, fresh chrome bumpers, and even a YOM 1965 North Carolina black plate for added authenticity. While a vast majority of Mustangs receive black or white interiors when theyre restored, the tan Pony interior used in this convertible is the ideal complement to the Ivy Green paint. Everything is new, including the seat covers, door panels, carpets, and even the dash pad. This is a highly unusual six-cylinder convertible with a console, as well, which is a much-appreciated addition that not only looks great but adds value down the line. All the gauges are clear and fully functional, and the AM/FM head unit also offers MP3 capability. Overhead, theres a new tan power convertible top hidden by a matching tan vinyl boot. The 200 cubic inch inline-six is plenty peppy for the lightweight Mustang, and it worked well enough in 1965 to make the Mustang a record-setting sales success. Recently rebuilt, along with a fresh automatic transmission, it drives like new and moves the convertible with a lively feel that your wallet will appreciate every time you go to fill it up. Nicely finished in Ford corporate blue with a chrome valve cover and a bright orange air cleaner, it is the kind of engine bay that most viewers are pleasantly surprised to see when they open the hood. Just the basics are covered, making this car anvil-reliable, and the solid chassis raises no red flags if youre the kind of guy who drives his hardware. The perfect low-profile touch are those 205/70/14 BFGoodrich radials with original spinner hubcaps. Solid, clean Mustang convertibles dont get more affordable than this. Enjoy the easy pace of this six cylinder ragtop, and savor the waves and smiles youll get along the way.
