This well-done 1967 Camaro pro-tourer is an amazing, magazine featured car that, thanks to a perfectly balanced small block V8 and a substantially improved suspension, is ready for years of endless cruising. Want to put some custom Chevrolet muscle in your garage for about HALF of what a ground up build would cost? Then check out this slick F1 Camaro!
Built by Samson Design in Marshall, Missouri, this razor sharp '67 Camaro features a seamless, custom appearance that's highlighted by super slick Iron Gray paint. Take one look down the sides of the cars rock solid body and it becomes very obvious that great care was taken to ensure all gaps were at better than factory standards. Step closer to the mirror-like gray paint and check out straight and ripple-free panels that aren't plagued by any rust or major imperfections. Grab the well-adjusted hood and feel how smoothly it closes to provide an excellent fit which is set off by a glossy multi-layer clearcoat finish. Built to exacting specifications and color sanded and buffed to a brilliant shine, this top-notch Camaro features a great combination of skilled workmanship and first-rate finishing that sets it apart in a crowded segment of extremely nice cars.
At the front of the car, a stainless trimmed black egg crate grille houses '67 Camaro exclusive parking lights inside of clear, bright headlights. At the bottom of that grille, a showroom fresh chrome bumper hangs above an optional Trans Am style chin spoiler; and at the top of that grille, a familiar ZL2 style cowl induction hood sits in front of like-new glass which is bordered by well-maintained stainless trim. The sides of the car present a mostly monochromatic appearance which allows the basic design of the body panels to be the focal point of attention. All the cars trim has been removed, along with its mirrors; and body matched drip rails, chrome door handles and round "Stealthed" front fender emblems are the only bolt on parts that break up the sea of Iron Gray paint. At the back of the car, a clean trunk lid does just fine without a traditional Camaro D80 spoiler, and two '67 Camaro exclusive chrome trimmed tail lights hang above a body-matched fuel cap and a second show worthy chrome bumper.
Lift up the cars cowl induction hood and you'll find a powerful small block 355 V8 that's housed in a smoothed Iron Gray engine compartment which has been detailed all the way down to chrome fender hardware. At the top of the motor, a custom, chrome trimmed air filter feeds an Edelbrock 650 4-barrel carburetor that's equipped with new stainless fuel lines. Under that carburetor, an Edelbrock Performer EPS aluminum intake sits between traditional cast iron heads that have been fitted with larger valves and wear tall body-matched valve covers. Below those heads, the Iron Gray engine block is bordered by Hedman long tube headers and houses a GM Performance Parts Z/28 cam and TRW domed piston which create a stout 11 to 1 compression ratio. At the back of the intake, a Mallory ignition system sends fire through fresh MSD Super Conductor wires; and in front of the motor, new V-belts spin a chrome alternator and Sanden AC compressor above a double-roller timing chain. Just as well detailed and finished as the exterior of the car, the Iron Gray engine bay features fresh hoses with billet fittings, a body-matched master cylinder, and a beefy radiator which is complete with a custom Iron Gray cowl, an electric fan, a front mounted transmission cooler and a centered "Stealthed" emblem.
Take a look under the car and you'll find a long list of small modifications which add up to big appearance and performance gains. The impressive 355 engine sends power through a 2,000 RPM stall converter to a Turbo-Hydramatic 350 transmission which spins a 12 bolt Posi-traction rear end with pavement chewing 3.73 gears. Holding that stellar drivetrain off the ground is a completely restored factory suspension which benefits from new urethane bushings, new front coil springs which lower the car three inches, custom rear leaf springs and high quality Monroe shocks. Stops come quickly thanks to a sturdy four wheel disc system which features custom Samson Design calipers at all four corners; and exhaust is handled by a fresh mandrel bent system which growls through an H-pipe crossover, great sounding dual chamber Flowmaster mufflers and stainless tipped turn downs. At the corners of the car, two inch drop spindles hold spotless 18 inch front and 20 inch rear Coys chrome wheels in the middle of 225/40 front and 255/35 rear Nexen N7000 radials. Like any high quality frame-off restoration, the bottom of this Camaro is as nicely finished as its top; and accordingly, nothing was overlooked from the satin black floor pans and refinished suspension components to the new chrome oil pan and stainless fuel tank.
Open the door of this slick Camaro and you'll find a completely restored vinyl interior which features tasteful custom pieces that give the car a nice, updated appearance. The black seats are firm and show no sign of dry rot or tearing. And complete front and rear door panels, which present a like-new appearance, hold centered "Stealthed" emblems below body-matched door frames. Between the seats, new black carpet provides a base for the cars custom Samson Design console and shifter; and in front of the seats, the cars dash is free of the typical drying and cracking found in first generation Camaros. At the center of the dash, a body-matched trim panel houses controls for the cars climate system between a modern Pioneer CD player and a custom air vent. In front of the passenger, a body-matched glove box contrasts well against the cars gloss black dash. And in front of the driver, an awesome looking chrome Grant steering wheel looks right at home. The cars vitals are monitored by a combination of cool-looking original gauges with brushed stainless faces and a three pack of iEquus gauges that hang under the center of the dash. And at the back of the cockpit, big Pioneer speakers hang over a fully restored trunk which includes a custom panels and like-new black carpet.
Included with this Camaro is a copy of the July 2007 Super Rod in which the car was featured.
