1967 Chevrolet Chevelle for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina

$32,900

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Chevrolet's 2013 showroom will be populated by a world class sports car, an egocentric pony car, a top dog Super Sport and the hardworking Malibu mid-size. Likewise, Chevrolet's 1967 showroom was populated with a world class sports car, an egocentric muscle car, a top dog Impala SS and this hard working Chevelle Malibu mid-size. Steadfast, distinguished and great to look at, this restored workhorse carries the trademark combination of classic good looks and rugged versatility that has built the bowtie brigade into one of the largest and most recognized brands in the world. The car's no-nonsense nature and big performance potential was a huge hit with 60s gearheads; and given the recent shift back to more traditional hot rodding, it seems only natural that these clean commoners will see a major boost in popularity. If you're looking to ride in style, you really can't go wrong with GM's second generation A-Body. And when you factor in this Malibu's numbers matching V8, tastefully restored interior and first rate, all-American sheetmetal, you realize what an incredible car it really is!

Originally delivered to Evelyn Collins Fulghum via Parkland Chevrolet in Asheville, North Carolina, this super cool cruiser is covered in a striking and correct layer of GM code N Madeira Maroon basecoat and topped with a thick and durable clearcoat shell. Under that high quality paint, an incredibly straight fuselage hangs solid panels that, with the exception of a thorough massage during their restoration, appear to have lead a quiet, drama-free existence. Those massaged panels feature better than factory alignment and, when opened and closed, sound solid and function exceptionally well. That functional body's combination of excellent panel reflections and Kansas-flat surfaces suggest many labor intensive hours were spent blanketing every inch of its metal with top-notch finish work. And one close look at our high definition pictures reveals a handsome payoff in the form of one of the best looking old school Chevrolets on the planet!
For 1967 the mid-level Malibu utilized a conservative appearance and unique trim pieces to distinguish itself from Chevrolet's working class 300 and storied Super Sport offerings. At the front of the car, clear halogen headlights and a black-inlayed grille center a small Chevrolet crest between a fresh "CHEVELLE" header script, a new chrome bumper and bright amber parking lamps. At the sides of the car, cross-flag fender emblems and quarter-mounted "Malibu" scripts hint at an upscale personality while traditional door handles and a correct chrome mirror perfectly complement straight stainless wheel trim, correct door guards and textured rocker moldings. At the top of the car, like-new glass and a black vinyl roof are traced by bright stainless drip rails, good looking stainless trim and satin-finished wipers. And at the back of the car, a body-matched valence hangs finned tail lights and a second "CHEVELLE" script over a showroom fresh bumper and crystal clear reverse lamps.
Under this mighty Malibu's flat hood you'll find a 283 cubic inch, era-correct V8 which wears a 1967-specific 3896944 casting number behind a correct "DE" suffix stamp. And although that fully restored mill may look small in the car's super tidy engine bay, it has no problem carrying this relatively lightweight mid-size down the road just as fast as you want to go! At the top of the engine, a black single-snorkel air cleaner injects wind from a fresh filter element into high octane dino juice that's supplied by a GM 2-jet carburetor. Below that carburetor, a factory intake funnels a perfect air/fuel mixture into vintage cast iron heads that are topped by stamped Chevy valve covers and detailed with a chrome Tonawanda assembly decal. And behind those valve covers, a traditional points distributor sequences spark through high quality Packard TV R Suppression wires. Cooling is provided by a heavy duty factory radiator that's equipped with reproduction GM hoses and a logical combination of both tower and squeeze clamps. Charging comes courtesy of a fresh V-belt, which spins a modern alternator above a correct power steering pump. And spent gases travel through a common pair of cast iron exhaust manifolds to well-mannered factory replacement pipes. This sweet Chevelle's engine bay is fully-sorted, displaying a nice combination of Chevy Orange paint and satin black fenders. And small details like a reproduction Delco Energizer battery, a silver oil cap and gray hood hardware add the kind of intricate detailing that draws fans and elicits compliments!
Behind that stout small block engine, a virtually unbreakable 2-speed Powerglide transmission, which is the correct unit for this car, sends torque to a rebuilt GM 10 bolt rear end. Braking is handled by a full set of correct GM drums, which have obviously been rebuilt at some point as well. And exhaust flows through bright, aluminized tubes to a factory replacement muffler and a standard issue tail pipe. During the restoration, the car's original double A-arm front and four link rear suspension was completely rebuilt and currently features correct power steering. Above that suspension, rust-free floorpans are covered in a traditional layer of GM satin black paint. And at the corners of that suspension, solid steel wheels spin H78-14 Goodyear Polyglas tires around ornate Chevrolet hub caps. All lines, hoses, brackets and fasteners, which were completely replaced at the time of restoration, show little to no weathering. And everything from this Chevy's factory sway bar to its new stainless fuel tank is fully sorted and ready to go!
Open this A-Body's rock solid doors and you'll find a fully restored black vinyl interior that's 100% correct and presents as virtually brand new. At the center of the car, big bench seats are in excellent shape and show little to no signs of wear. In front of those seats, a warp-free dash hangs a correct Delco radio inside bright chrome. At the base of that dash, like-new carpet anchors heavy duty rubber floor mats between traditional "GM" branded lap belts. At the sides of that carpet, horizontally pleated door panels hang bright chrome handles and pliable black armrests between pristine stainless trim and dent-free Fisher sill plates. And at the top of those panels, a tight headliner hangs fade-free sun visors in front of a fully functional dome light. In front of the driver, a classy chrome steering wheel features a tasteful "Chevelle" branded horn button. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk features a correct houndstooth mat, a correct decklid decal and a full-size spare tire.
The sale of this super clean Chevelle includes an original owner's manual and the original Protect-O-Plate outlined above.
Fully restored and professionally sorted, this 1967 Chevrolet mid-size is a top notch classic that's ready for years of shows and miles of cruising. It's one of the last great no-nonsense, no-frills designs to come out of Detroit; and it's the kind of car that your family will enjoy for generations. Whether your interest lies in killer cruisers, classic good looks, or vintage Chevrolet style, this Malibu has it all!
