1968 Chevrolet Camaro for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina

This 1968 Camaro SS is the kind of resto-mod we'd all build given the time and money to do it right. With a fresh ZZ4 aluminum-headed crate motor under the hood, along with all the modern conveniences like A/C and an automatic overdrive transmission, it combines the look and feel of a vintage F-body with an up-to-date driving experience that makes it a fantastic cruiser. The list of mechanical upgrades is extensive, while the body looks 100% stock and that's exactly the right way to do it. The cowl tag says this was originally a Butternut Yellow car, but the current Rally Red looks far more appealing on a car with this much performance. Panel gaps are excellent and the doors latch effortlessly, indicative of not only quality bodywork, but a car that hasn't been abused. The two-stage urethane paint is uniformly shiny and the white bumblebee stripe around the nose adds just the right performance look without going overboard. All the stainless has been polished, the chrome is fresh, and they nailed all the details. Inside, the black interior could almost pass for original, and if those seat covers are reproductions, they're some of the best I've ever seen. New carpets offer the correct weave, and the door panels are properly detailed with bright stainless and unmarked vinyl. The original gauges have been rebuilt, including the super-rare tach/clock assembly, and a quartet of Auto Meter auxiliary gauges have been fitted in the center console the way the factory did it. And speaking of the center console, you'll also note that the original horseshoe shifter has been retained and now offers detents for all four gears of the new transmission, including overdrive. A woodgrained steering wheel adds an upscale touch, while the A/C blows ice cold through the original eyeball vents. An updated JVC AM/FM/cassette stereo lives in the dash, but after you hear the way the engine sounds, you'll never use it. That engine is a GM ZZ4 crate motor. With aluminum heads, Edelbrock Air Gap intake, Demon 670 CFM carburetor, and a set of Hooker long-tube headers, it makes big power in a lightweight package. The finned aluminum valve covers and matching air filter add a vintage performance look, but nobody will mistake this for a garden-variety Camaro. True braided stainless lines have been used throughout, and the A/C compressor and alternator are highly polished pieces that match the other brightwork under the hood. Other details include an HEI ignition system and billet aluminum accessory brackets. The transmission is a 700R4 automatic overdrive spinning a 12-bolt Bendix Posi full of easy-cruising 3.55 gears. Subframe connectors, Flowmasters, power front disc brakes, and a set of traditional Rally wheels wearing 235/60/15 front and 255/60/15 rear BFGoodrich tires round out the extensive list of modifications, and help to give this car a great stance. Sadly, we don't have enough room here to fully describe this amazing Camaro and all its modifications, but suffice to say it is simply amazing. Fortunately, to get all the details all you have to do is call!
