1968 Chevrolet Camaro for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina

$79,900

In the days of 650 horsepower production pony cars and companies that engineer modern performance products for anything from a Civic to a Cadillac, it's safe to say the pro-touring movement is alive and well! And every so often we get a pro-tourer that instantly draws a crowd of visitors even in our showroom full of exclusive, one of a kind muscle cars. This awesome black and red 1968 Camaro, which features big block power, a proven automatic transmission, and a killer stance that's augmented by custom painted wheels, has been drawing stares ever since it rolled off the trailer. In fact, between its brilliant paint and chill inducing big block engine, the car seems to have so much appeal that we've joked about selling tickets just to look at it. Instead, we decided to give it a fantastic price and offer it to you as an amazing pro-tourer that can be enjoyed both on the road and at the show!
Built to look mean and sound positively evil, this sinister '68 Camaro pro-tourer features a detailed, custom appearance that's highlighted by a spectacular color combination and bright, mirror-like accents. Take one look down the sides of the cars slick black body and it becomes very obvious that great care was taken to ensure all gaps were at better than factory standards. Step closer to the wet-look two-tone paint and check out straight and ripple-free panels that aren't plagued by any rust or major imperfections. Grab the well-adjusted hood and feel how smoothly it opens to provide an excellent fit which is set off by a glossy clearcoat finish. Bathed in black paint, detailed with House of Kolor Candy Apple Red stripes and buffed to a brilliant shine, this top-notch pro-tourer features a great combination of skilled workmanship and first-rate finishing that transforms a traditional pony car shape into a multi-dimensional show piece.
With its classic pony car proportions and modernist body panels the first generation Camaro is already an inherently good looking design. And with today's vast aftermarket support, it has become an excellent canvas for any skilled builder to create a serious trophy winning show stopper. At the front of this killer '68 Camaro, a bright stainless grille hangs OEM style electronically controlled Detroit Speed headlights above an arrow straight chrome bumper, clear factory-equipped parking lights and an optional D80 SCCA style front spoiler. Behind that grille, a tall ZL2 style cowl induction hood sits in front of like-new dark tinted glass which is framed by showroom fresh stainless, correct chrome drip rails and Detroit Speed Selecta Speed wipers. In traditional pro-tourer fashion, the sides of this awesome F1 have been detailed to the max to ramp up its already tailor-made appearance. Form comes courtesy of deluxe stainless rocker trim, dent-free stainless wheel well trim, and slick "Camaro" and "502" fender emblems. And function is provided by a chrome driver's side bowtie mirror, trick billet marker lights and obligatory chrome door handles. At the back of the car, a traditional D80 decklid spoiler hangs a traditional "Hurst Equipped" emblem above billet tail lights and an "RS" branded billet aluminum fuel cap; and a second wrap around chrome bumper sits above clear Rally Sport reverse lamps.
Lift up the cars hydraulic hood and you'll find a 600 horsepower, 502 cubic inch GM Performance Parts monster block wedged inside a gloss black engine compartment that has been detailed all the way down to trick EMS billet fender braces. At the top of that engine, a custom chrome air filter sends air through a reusable Spectre filter to a large 4-barrel Holley carburetor that's equipped with braided fuel lines, heavy duty fittings and an Auto Gage fuel pressure gauge. Under that carburetor, an impressive high rise Holley Strip Dominator aluminum intake sits between aluminum GM Performance Parts heads and custom Mac's Movie Cars valve covers which are branded with Candy Apple "Black Thunder" scripts. Below those valve covers, the silver engine block is bordered by ceramic coated long tube headers which are interwoven with Mallory Pro Sidewinder plug wires that have been fitted with Accel end caps. And behind those valve covers, an MSD Pro-Billet distributor is centered between an MSD Blaster II coil, which is connected to an interior mounted MSD 6AL ignition system, and a polished master cylinder. At the front of the motor, new V-belts spin a chrome alternator and a chrome power steering pump behind a chrome fan shroud; and a heavy duty aluminum radiator sends coolant to chrome flex hoses, a chrome thermostat housing, and a custom fabricated overflow tank. Virtually every facet of this Camaros clean engine bay has been taken from a 10 to an 11 and even the small details like the Optima gel cell battery, K&N crankcase breathers, and billet latch and hinges have been carefully planned and well executed. Jump in the driver's seat, twist the key and summon a little pump gas with the right foot pedal, and the big engine starts twisting with a rhythm that'll shake your neighbor's foundation loose.
Take a look under the car and you'll find a long list of small modifications which add up to big appearance and performance gains. The buff 502 cubic inch engine sends power to a tough TCI Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed transmission which spins a 12 bolt Posi-traction rear end with familiar 3.31 gears. Holding that stellar drivetrain off the ground is a completely restored factory suspension which benefits from front and rear Suspension Techniques sway bars, fresh polyurethane bushings and modern power steering. Stops come quickly thanks to a Wilwood Dynalite four wheel disc system which features red Wilwood calipers and drilled and slotted rotors at all four corners; and exhaust is handled by a fresh mandrel bent system which growls through an X-pipe crossover and wicked sounding single chamber mufflers. At the corners of the car, custom painted 18 inch Boss Motorsports wheels spin 225/45 front and 275/40 rear Falken FK452 radials. And like any carefully assembled pro-tourer, the bottom of this Camaro is as nicely finished as its top with satin black floor pans hovering over such niceties as a stainless fuel tank, a Holley electronic fuel pump, fully braided fuel and brake lines, a new Milodon oil pan, and a finned transmission pan.
Open the door of this awesome Camaro and you'll find a completely restored houndstooth interior which features tasteful custom pieces that give the car a clean and modern appearance. The black and white seats are firm and show no sign of dry rot or tearing. And deluxe black door panels, which present a like-new appearance, hang billet window cranks below cool billet lock knobs. Between the seats, new black carpet provides a base for the cars Hurst Quarter Stick Pistol Grip shifter; and in front of the seats, a crack-free dash holds a custom silver gauge insert with great looking Auto Meter gauges between billet accessory knobs and an MP3 compatible Retro Sound head unit. In front of the driver, an awesome looking satin finished steering wheel holds a traditional red, white and blue Chevy horn button above billet stalks for a tilt steering column. And at the back of the cockpit, big Dual speakers hang over a fully restored trunk which includes a correct mat, a correct jack and a full size spare tire. Like its sinister exterior and vainglorious engine bay, everything inside this cool Camaro, from its trick chrome A-pillar covers to its heavy duty billet pedals and sill plates is a worthy testament to the cars ominous and barbaric personality!
Included with the sale of this Camaro is an original owner's manual and build manuals for most of the cars many aftermarket accessories.
