1981 Ford F100 for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina

$10,995

Before pickup trucks were fashionable, you had to get clever with the options list to build yourself a cool hauler like this 81 F100. With a regular cab and a short stepside bed, this is the truck you custom-ordered when the factory wasnt offering rides like the Ranger Splash or Explorer Adrenalin. This truck has obviously been someones favorite toy rather than a working vehicle, given its outstanding preservation, fresh paint, and beautifully finished oak bed. Never rusty or abused, the fresh paint in understated gray with bright red pinstripes emphasizing the curves of the outboard fenders. None of the usual F-series trouble spots show any issues, including the rockers, the back of the cab, or even the rear fenders. Two-stage urethane gives it a shine thats better than your average truck-grade respray, and for some reason, this one seems to fit together better than most. Gaps are good, and dig how tightly the rear bumper fits to the bed. Even the blacked-out grille is a custom piece that neatly eliminates the traditional Ford blue oval, but dont worry, the big chrome block letters on the hood remind everyone who built this one. Ford was big on red interiors in the early 1980s, and the upholstery in this cruiser is astoundingly well preserved. With a wide bench that allows three abreast seating, the cab is bright and airy thanks to expansive glass area, with a sliding rear window that gives great ventilation-its one of the best features of a pickup truck. The dash is 100% stock, and includes a factory tach mounted front and center, as well as a full array of auxiliary gauges. Making this truck even more fun to drive is a 4-speed manual transmission with a surprisingly light feel and direct action, not to mention a brand new clutch. The original AM/FM stereo radio remains in the dash and fully functional, which is kind of a cool throwback to the 80s. Its extremely well preserved and beautifully maintained, especially for a 30-year-old truck. Freshly rebuilt and ready to rumble, the original 302 cubic inch V8 is the same one thats been powering Mustangs for generations. Wearing a fresh coat of Ford Blue paint and all its original components, including the air injection pump, it runs extremely well, with a great V8 burble from the custom exhaust with a Flowmaster muffler. Power steering makes the truck handle better than youd expect from a full-sized pickup, and the fresh shocks underneath give it a sporty edge that fits its appearance. Yeah, itll still haul, but youll take this one out just for the sheer pleasure of driving it. Those 16-inch aluminum wheels are from a late-model Ford pickup, and give this one an updated look thats still 100% OEM. Fresh 235/70/16 Michelin LTX light truck tires deliver a smooth ride and better handling than youd expect from a vintage pickup. This truck represents a lot of fun for not a lot of money.
