Wow, who is this?!? We hear that a lot when this guy is out and about. Meet Oberon! He's a 2-3 year old blue fawn head-turner who draws attention everywhere he goes. Obi is a big guy at 80 lbs, and he loooooves to stretch his legs. He's been under training to work on his jumping and pulling, and he's doing a great job, but he'll need continued training with his eventual adopter. Oberon has been hanging out at our boarding kennel, because if there's one thing he hates, it's being crated. He does fine in a room of his own, but he just can't stand the small confinement of a crate, so we just work around that quirk. He's a pretty easy keeper around the house, he's content to just chill and enjoy the company of his person. When it's time to go out and play, that's where you'll see his energy. There's no sense in sugar coating it, Oberon can be a bull-in-a china-shop when he's running, so get out of his way or he'll bowl you over. He's working really hard on impulse control when it comes to jumping, but if this boy is charging in from the yard, you're best off just getting out of his way until he's accomplished his mission. Once in, he's back to good boy Obi, but for sure little kids are not going to appreciate being mowed down by this guy, no matter how handsome he is. Our ideal home for Oberon would be an experienced owner who's willing and able to continue training throughout Oberon's life. He minds well, but he does have to have respect for his handler, or he's going to just stare at you like he's never heard the word sit before (that's a lie!). He'll make good use of a fully fenced yard, and while he's awesome on walking adventures, he's not the kinda guy you're going to take to a dog park. Generally he ignores other dogs, he really has no use for members of his species, but he's not prone to making a fuss about it. We've tried to pair him up with friends a few times, but he has no interest in having a dog buddy, so it's just easier to mark Obi as an only dog. Cats? Probably not, but maybe. The last thing you want is 80lbs of dog chasing the cat through the house, you worked hard for your things, you don't want them smashed! lol. Look at all of those caveats...he sounds like a handful, but he's really not that bad, he's just looking for a certain type of home. Are you someone who's looking for an only pet who's absolutely stunning? Do you have previous experience with powerful, kind-hearted dogs? Would you be willing to continue working with Oberon on his leash and jumping manners? Can you not get this gorgeous dog out of your mind? We totally get it, we think he's just amazing, and we're going to be super picky when we're choosing his happily ever after. Oberon will come with continued training help as needed, you won't be on your own with this village favorite. Intrigued? Visit southofthebully.com and fill out an application, we'd love to talk to you about Oberon and see if you're both a match made in heaven.
Our adoption fee is $225. This covers spay/neuter, microchip, microchip registration, all age appropriate vaccines, and any needed vet care.
